The tax currency symbol is used in emails and is "$" by default. If you are outside the USA and transact in another currency you can enter your currency symbol
The Self-Insured option, if checked, means that the "Self-Insured" checkbox in the invoice screen will be checked by default. Self insurance is just an indicator to yourself and is used in conjuction with DAZzle/Endicia (will print INSURED on label even if self-insured)
Other Tax can be a local tax or whatever tax may come up in the future and is applied like sales tax.
Prompt for Tax Rate on Each Invoice, if checked and you go to enter the sales tax in the invoice screen will bring up a screen to prompt for the tax rate. This is for states where the sales tax rate differs depending on the county. Sales tax is not applied automatically but the rate is applied if you go to edit the sales tax amount on the invoice screen.
Check the box to apply tax to Shipping & Packing charges if that applies in your state.
